LOS ANGELES BRUTALISM AND THE ADSURDAM IDENTITY

adsurdam was never about fashion. It was about systems — the grids that organise cities, the typefaces that label infrastructure, the materials that survive weather and wear. The brand's visual identity draws directly from the brutalist architecture of Los Angeles: the Caltrans District 7 headquarters, the Salk Institute extension studies, the parking structures of downtown.

These buildings share a language: exposed concrete, repetitive geometry, the refusal of ornament. adsurdam translates this into garment construction — raw-edge finishes, visible bartack stitching, heat-sealed seam tape instead of traditional binding.

The fabrics follow the same logic. Cordura nylon replaces cotton. Ripstop replaces poplin. Every material is chosen for function, then refined for form. The result is clothing that looks like it belongs in a system — because it does.
