Garment Care

EH SURDAM pieces are built with the same structural integrity as the architecture that inspires them. Canvas-constructed jackets and tailored garments should be hung on broad, shaped hangers to maintain their silhouette. After wearing, allow garments to rest for at least 24 hours before wearing again — this permits the natural fibers to recover their form. Brush wool and cashmere gently with a soft garment brush to remove surface dust and restore the nap of the fabric.

Storage

During extended periods of non-use, keep your EH SURDAM garments in their dust bags. Stuff structured pieces with acid-free tissue paper to maintain their shape. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid plastic garment bags, which trap moisture and prevent natural fibers from breathing. For seasonal storage, cedar blocks provide natural moth protection without the chemical residue of conventional alternatives.

Cleaning

We recommend professional dry cleaning for tailored and structured garments. Spot-treat minor stains promptly with a clean, dry cloth — blot gently rather than rubbing. Avoid machine washing, harsh detergents, solvents, or diluents that may damage materials permanently. For lighter pieces, consult the care label — some may be hand-washed in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Lay flat to dry, never wring or twist.

EH SURDAM uses only noble and natural materials selected for their quality, durability, and provenance. These include fine wool, selvedge denim, premium cotton, and ethically sourced cashmere. Natural materials require what we call rest periods — allow your garments time between wears. This is not fragility; it is the nature of materials that are alive.
